Can I use Amplifi mesh points with routers by other manufacturers, or an AmpliFi router from another bundled kit?

This depends on what product you buy! If you have purchased the HD kit, the meshpoints are hardware paired to that router. We have done this to improve the setup time and the user experience. That way it will be plug & play.

The Stand Alone Mesh points can be used in two ways:

1. Added to another AmpliFi device as a mesh.

2. Added to a 3rd Party router( non-amplifi device) in a mesh mode.

AmpliFi kits are meant not meant to be added to another kit. You can only add to the kit with individual pieces.

Is this old information, or does this completely contradict your own documentation in your Amplifi data sheet?

"Mesh Your Third-Party Router Turn your existing router into a powerful mesh network by adding the AFi-P-HD MeshPoints."

This whole thing really turns me off of AmpliFi routers, it's a very good product, and crippling the MeshPoints that come with the kit is a bit dodgy. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the kit MeshPoints are the same hardware as the standalone. This has cost me a bit of time - recommend the description for the kit is updated so others won't have to go through what I did.
